“Our partnership with VELTEKO began in 2012. We were looking for a versatile vertical packaging machine capable of producing various types of bags (pillow bags, doypack bags, stand-up pouches with heat-sealed edges, etc.).”
In the end, we decided on two HSV120-CONTI vertical packaging machines for pillow bags, stand-up pouches with heat-sealed edges, and doypack bags with zippers. We usually package croutons, bruschetta, and crackers in doypack bags and pillow bags.
The main advantage of producing doypack pouches is the reduction in floor space required. Compared to horizontal machines, which require at least 300–350 sq ft, these vertical machines need only 60 sq ft. VELTEKO vertical packaging machines are also much cheaper than horizontal machines and allow for the production of a wide variety of bag types, as mentioned above. This is not possible with horizontal machines.
The changeover between pillow bags and doypacks takes only 30 minutes. The adjustments required after the machine is reconfigured are made solely to improve the appearance of the pouches. All components can be quickly connected electronically and pneumatically.
"As for maintenance, the machines are equipped with a VPN router to ensure a secure connection between the machine and VELTEKO’s service department. So far, we haven’t had any issues with any of the machines. The VPN connection could be useful if we were to add new devices to the machines. Operating the system via the Beckhoff PC-HMI is very intuitive."
