On April 18, 1991, the original founders, Petr Hrdina and František Šmíd, laid the cornerstone for the engineering firm of the same name, “Hrdina and Šmíd.”
On July 1, 1992, VELTEKO s.r.o. was established in its current form based on a partnership agreement between the original founders and Pavel Chvojka. Its first home was a rented 12 x 12 m production hall.
In 1996, construction of the company’s first production facility was successfully completed. That same year, VELTEKO launched the upgraded HSV 101 vertical step-feed packaging machine, and two years later introduced the first HSV 200 vertical continuous packaging machine.
In 1997, the concept of VERSATILE machines began to take shape, and the first versatile machine, designated HSV101B-FLEXIBLE, was developed.
In order to better serve customers abroad, subsidiaries were established in Poland in 1999 (VELTEKO Polska) and in Russia in 2001 (VELTEKO Rus).
In 2001, VELTEKO became one of the first manufacturers in the world to introduce the HSV 220 double-tube continuous vertical machine. Furthermore, the construction of an additional production hall doubled VELTEKO’s production space.
In 2000, VELTEKO participated for the first time in the major European trade fair INTERPACK in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In 2005, the first HSV 102 vertical form-fill-seal machine was built for producing standard DOYPACK bags, and a year later, a zipper application was added. In response to customer demand for high packaging throughput, VELTEKO began producing these bags on HSV101B-CONTI continuous packaging machines in 2008.
In 2006, VELTEKO began using high-performance industrial computers to control all of its packaging machines.
Between 2010 and 2012, VELTEKO employed more than 70 people. Leveraging its cutting-edge technologies, the company launched a new series of HSV 360 vertical packaging machines in 2010. The company’s rapid growth prompted the construction of a new, modern building to house its technical development and sales departments.During the same period, production began on the US 100 packaging and sealing machine and the next-generation HSV 440 vertical packaging machine.
In 2014, a new corporate identity style and a new logo were introduced.
Another new product introduced in 2014 was the new HSV280A-STEP/CONTI series of vertical packaging machines, which replaced the previously manufactured HSV101B series.
The HSV210-SLIM packaging machine was specially designed in 2015 for customers with demanding requirements for packaging snacks and small individual items in high-quality pillow bags.
In 2016, the very first workshop for VELTEKO’s sales team and distributor network was held in Vlašim. The meeting focused on further improving the promotion, sales, and service of VELTEKO packaging machines worldwide.
The year 2017 was marked by significant new VELTEKO technologies, which were embodied in the physical representation of a functional heart. The heart not only perfectly captured the underlying concept, but also served as a perfect example of the passion and enthusiasm with which our technologies are created.
In 2018, a new production facility was built and officially opened.
In 2019, the updated VERSATILE-360-B machine in a stainless steel version and the DUPLEX-360 twin-tube machine were launched. A second workshop for VELTEKO’s sales team and distributor network was held at VELTEKO’s headquarters in Vlašim.
2020 – The DOYPACK-360 and PRIME-360 series of vertical packaging machines were launched.
2021 – VELTEKO was celebrating 30 years in business and is working intensively on the development of a new, significantly advanced vertical machine.
In 2022, VELTEKO decided to wind up the operations of its subsidiary, VELTEKO Rus. This decision was motivated by the company’s refusal to participate in or support the Russian Federation’s military occupation of Ukraine. VELTEKO has thus unequivocally reaffirmed its values, principles, and commitment to ethical and responsible business practices on an international level.
In 2025, VELTEKO s.r.o. underwent a generational transition. Ing. Tomáš Šmíd became the company’s director. The company continues to manufacture vertical packaging machines, which—thanks to advanced technologies tailored to customer needs—help businesses streamline their packaging processes and respond flexibly to market changes.
VELTEKO is celebrating 35 years in business and is working intensively on the development of a new, significantly advanced vertical machine.
